Port River Exploration

I decided to venture out into the murky depths of the Port in The Malcom Douglas on an early April morning. I launched at Torrens Island and trolled some Berkley hard bodies as I headed out towards the mangrove creeks.

These trolled lures created some excitement as I paddled along, with half a dozen salmon trout landed between 20-25cms. I then decided to anchor up in a creek mouth hoping for a predatory creature to be lurking on the turn of the tide. Unfortunately, this was not the case as I landed another dozen salmon trout and 1 large banjo shark.

As the tide continued to drop I decided to go for a paddle to flick soft plastics at structure. This was very productive, for salmon trout but not for the target species. After landing another 7-salmon trout I decided it was time to work my way back with an incoming tide to push me a long. As I made my way through the channels and across the flats I trolled some Berkley hard bodies. This provided hot action with another 20-salmon trout landed before I returned to the boat ramp. This was an Interesting trip and I will be back at it again soon.
